Updated bathroom fixture

So Ariane has been wanting to spray paint this ugly ugly light fixture that is in our hallway bath.  I can see why -- it just looks disgusting with it's greenish paint.  It looks like someone brought it up from a shipwreck and didn't bother to repaint.
Low light color.

With natural light -- uuuuggggly.
So today I just took it right off and outside.  I didn't need any tools or anything because there were just little nubs that screwed it to the wall, and there were wire nuts to hold the hot, neutral, and ground wires.  Took those off and it came out without a struggle.

I used our recycling bin (upside down) covered with an old sheet to paint it in the backyard.
Sprayed on a bit of paint here.
I used some Rustoleum Metallic spray paint that I had left over from when I was making batarangs that was the right color, so we used that.  The great thing about that paint is that it's fully dry in 30 minutes -- you can't beat that!  The only problem was that we didn't have very much of the bronze color, so I used some of the gold color to prime it and fully cover up that ugly green.

It started sprinkling, so moved it under the porch.
After it was primed and dried, I put on a couple coats of the bronze paint.
MUCH better looking!

I let that dry for about 2 hours, then I threw it back up in the bathroom!  Looks WAY WAY better now!
Natural light

Lights on -- I think I need a new bulb ...

  2. Thanks Rust-Oleum Scott! We usually try to use Rust-Oleum products, but especially the Metallic spray paints. They are really great.

Hopefully we will be able to use more in the future!
