Capped off a pipe!

So I wanted to cap off that water line that ran from the basement up to the coolers so that no one else would ever be able to turn it on again (and make a mess). I thought that would require soldering and all kinds of other plumbing know-how, but alas, I was wrong! Enter the Push-Fit fitting.

The $2 cap.

Looks easy, right?  It was.

It's supposed to just push onto the pipe and be good for up to 200lbs of pressure! And no soldering required. Awesome!

So I went down and first cut the pipe off. I did it after the valve because I thought that maybe we could use that for something else in the future.

Valve and pipe before capping.

Cutting pipe with cutter from Home Depot.

Makes a clean cut.

Pushed the cap on.  Done.

After the pipe was cut, I literally pushed that cap on with my hand and was done. I even turned on the water to make sure, and not even a drip! Just learned a new plumbing secret!

Now I don't know if I should try to remove some of that unused piping or not ...
