We're also going to remodel the bathroom NOW!

Soooo.  We've wanted to remodel our bathroom for some time but never got around to doing it, mostly because of the cost!  However, while looking on her phone one day, Ariane came across some double vanities that were SUPER cheap because they were all last year's models!  So we went down to look at the cheapest one and of course they're sold out.  They are also sold out of any other one we wanted ... except one last vanity that is still new in the box.  The guy goes and opens the box and rolls the vanity out to us ... we look it over and say "how much?" and he says he can give it to us for like 40% the original price.  And we take it.  And we load it up in the car and drive it home.

Here's the vanity we bought!

So now it's sitting in the garage ... and we're fearful that it'll get scratched or dinged or something while in there.  So that means it's time to remodel the bathroom!  NOW!
And yes, we are doing everything we can ourselves, which means everything but plumbing and difficult electrical.  You remember our current layout:

Yeah, it's pretty small and not that great.  We hate the fact that the sink is open to the room with just that opening, and then there is a wall separating the toilet and shower from the rest.  Seems strange.  We also hate that the shower is so small and there is only one sink!
We decided that we are going to go with the plan that Ariane came up with before.  It'll save us money and will give her what she wants most: a bathtub!  The plan will either be like this:

Or like this, where the closet is completely separated away from the bath entrance:

Either way will be much better than what we currently have!  Yesterday, we decided to start the demo.  Here are before pics:

Entry to master
Closet window
Looking at bath from master
Nice vanity and spindles or whatever they're called.
Door to shower and toilet.
Shower with necessary organization.
I made a hole in the wall to take a look.

Entry to closet opposite the vanity.
Looking into closet.

We were really tired of having our bathroom this way.  Sure, it's really nice to have a master bath AT ALL, and having a closet of this size with a window is a great thing.  Still, we felt like someone could have thought it out a little better.  Although our plan could be better, we think it is a good mix of low cost and good functionality.  If we did go any bigger -- even moving the wall between the closet and the bathroom a foot out for more bath space -- it would be a LOT more work.  Work = cost.  We think it's the best of both worlds.  Good reason to start hammering away!  Here are the after pics from the first demolition day:

No more ugly spindle-things!

No more ugly, super-short vanity (with seashell sink)!

Looks like a good spot for a tub!

Opening up the closet.

There's definitely more to be done, but this is a great start and we are really looking forward to having a new bathroom!
